RIM reveals BlackBerry App World 2.0

BlackBerry App World 2.0 has been released in beta. It offers a redesigned user interface for easy access to top lists of apps and themes (above right), as well as the opportunity to pay for apps either via PayPal or using a credit card. In plain English: it’s much nicer to use.

Users will be able to set up a dedicated card or PayPal account for all purchases made through the App World – this means that instead of entering all your details each time you buy an app, you’ll just have to enter your BlackBerry account password. Much more in line with what other app portals like Apple’s App Store offers.

The updated App World also brings BlackBerry user IDs (below right) so you’ll be able to see your full app purchase history (below left) no matter which handsets you’ve used previously.

We downloaded BlackBerry App World 2.0 by browsing to www.blackberry.com/appworld on our handset, clicking ‘open in App World’ then hitting ‘download’. Your device will need to reboot in order to install the update.
