Rumour: HTC Flyer to get Ice Cream Sandwich early 2012

A quick one this; we’ve spotted word that the HTC Flyer might be in line for some Ice Cream Sandwich fun fairly soon. According to French HTC fansite HTC-Hub, a customer service spokesperson spilled les haricots during a call about problems with the upgrade to Android 3.2 Honeycomb.

According to Android and Me where we first saw this, the HTC employee told HTC-Hub’s Bruno Miguel that there were two options available. Either send the Flyer back to have the original UI and 2.3 Gingerbread re-installed or to wait for the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade later in the year:

HTC: or wait for the update to ice cream sandwich.
Bruno: When is the update expected?
HTC: the first quarter of this year.

And there you have it. Given that this is being attributed to an HTC spokesperson and not a network spokesperson – networks are normally the last people to greenlight Android OS updates – makes us think that there’s something in this. But what about us British Flyer owners?

We’ve asked HTC in the UK for some more info on this and we should be hearing back soon…
