We’ve heard a rumour that Vodafone will be bringing the 12 month contracts back pretty darn soon.
No official details have been announced yet, but we understand that the iPhone 4, HTC Desire HD, Samsung Galaxy S will all be offered on year-long Pay Monthly plans, along with the Nokia N8 and BlackBerry Bold.
The plans say that a 16GB iPhone 4 will set you back £299 on a 12 month plan at £35 a month. A 32GB edition will cost your a further £100 at £399 for £35 a month on 12 months. No mention of things like minutes, messages or data though.
We spoke to Vodafone who didn’t comment on the leak but said that it is “looking at all variations of contracts to ensure that smartphone customers get good value for money.”
Year-long Pay Monthly contracts are set to become mandatory in the UK this May, following an Ofcom/EU ruling.
This is great news for all customers who don’t want to be locked into a contract that lasts longer than a year. But it’s especially good news for iPhone fans, who normally have to opt for an 18 or 24 month plan, which sees them missing out on the next iPhone iteration.
