Virgin Media has added five new handsets to its super low-cost £8.50 contracts. The Samsung Monte and Samsung Tocco can now be scooped up for free on 24 month contracts costing less than a tenner a month.
The Nokia X2, 5230 Chrome and 6700 Slide are also available for peanuts on the same super-cheap deal.
All of these phones are available to buy on the £8.50 tariff now, with the exception of the Nokia 6700 Slide which will be available from November.
The £8.50 tariff gives you 100 minutes and 100 texts per month, with data available for an extra 30p a day, should you want to surf the web or check Facebook. Calls to other Virgin mobile numbers are free and if you’ve got a Virgin landline in the home it’s free for people at home to call your Virgin mobile number.
Naturally, these phones are available on higher priced contracts as well, such as the Virgin £15 Web deal, which gives you 100 minutes, 500 texts and 500MB of internet access.
New and returning students can claim a 15% discount if they take any of these phones on a £10 or higher tariff with a valid NUS Extra card. Given that student fees are set to sharply rise (cheers government) over the next few years this is a welcome move from Virgin Media.
