Samsung announces its Galaxy family: Galaxy Ace, Galaxy mini, Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Gio

Samsung has just announced four new phones to it’s Galaxy range of Android phones. All of these new phones run on Android 2.2 and should be in UK shops by March.

Two of the new Galaxy phones are ones that popped up on our rumour radar last week; the Samsung Galaxy Ace and Galaxy mini. Of these two, it’s the Galaxy Ace which has the more powerful specs – it has a 3.5-inch display, 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash and runs on an 800MHz processor.

The Galaxy mini has a 3.2-inch screen and a 3-megapixel camera with no flash and fixed focus. It’s processor is also slightly slower at 600MHz, so it won’t be quite as quick on its feet as the Ace.

Also joining the Galaxy family is the Galaxy Fit and the Galaxy Gio. The Fit features a 5-megapixel camera (no flash) and a 3.31-inch screen, whereas the Gio (apparently Italian for ‘jewel’) has a slightly smaller 3.2-inch screen and a 3-megapixel camera.

All of the the Galaxy phones announced today are 3G phones, come with Wi-Fi and GPS. The touch-sensitive text input method Swype also comes built in.

No word on pricing or exact release dates yet; we’ll keep you posted.
