Samsung Galaxy Beam I8520 gets pricing

The Samsung Galaxy Beam has just had its UK pricing revealed over at Unlocked Mobiles, costing £384.98 including VAT. Just announced at MWC in Barcelona, the Samsung Galaxy Beam seams like just another high-end phone from last year with its Super AMOLED 4-inch WVGA display, dual-core processor and Android 2.3, Gingerbread on-board. So why announce it at the world’s most advanced mobile trade show? We’re guessing the projector in its upper end has something to do with it.

Samsung Galaxy Beam - Projector phone with dual-core processor and HD projector from Samsung

Able to project images to flat surfaces up to 50-inches wide, the beam can also playback 720p HD video up to 30fps. In addition to playing back your movies, you can also project maps, photos, presentations and games using a dedicated projection app.

Not sacrificing on svelteness however, the Samsung Galaxy Beam measures in at just 64.2 x 124 x 12.5mm and weighs 145g. Also packing a 5-megapixel camera capable of 720p video capture, 768MB RAM, 8GB of storage (expandable via microSD), it seems pretty well specced to take advantage of its onboard projector.

Priced similarly to the Sony Xperia P, these are very comparable devices spec-wise with the P winning out in terms of design and camera. If however the thought of a projector on your mobile makes you weak in the knees, you’ll be able to pick up a Samsung Galaxy Beam from July and can pre-order one right now. and check out our hands-on photos with the Beam itself.
