Samsung said that its Galaxy Gear smartwatch would launch on September 25th for $299, but the company didn’t give UK pricing at its IFA press conference. SamMobile has spotted the official UK price, though, and it looks like we’re going to get screwed once again.
The South Korean manufacturer’s smartwatch will be priced at £299, according to a pre-order website for the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear. That doesn’t exactly compare favourably to the America’s $299 price. Even after converting the US price and adding VAT at 20%, the watch should cost around £230. Where’s that extra £70 coming from?
Samsung’s website also has the unlocked price for the Galaxy Note 3, sitting at a hefty £649. Still, if you buy the Note 3 and Galaxy Gear together, £100 will be knocked off the total cost. If you really want to get your hands on Samsung’s latest toys on day one, then you can pre-order them right now through the company’s website – they should be delivered by Samsung’s Westfield Stratford store.
