Samsung Galaxy Note 2 launch confirmed for August 15th?

The mobile world might get some eyes on time with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 sooner than they first thought. With its expected release originally slated for October, having now supposedly been brought forward to September. The phablet (phone-cum-tablet) successor to the impressively successful original Note is now expected to make its debut ahead of IFA 2012, which takes place from the 31st of August to the 5th of September.

Product-reviews.net are stating that they’ve received official confirmation from Samsung that on August 15th, the company will be revealing ‘the Next Galaxy’ a slogan last reserved for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S3 launch in London. Although there’s no official link to this statement and talk of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the only other possible device that is on the cards is a quad-core Samsung Galaxy Tab successor, but not official word has emerged on this either.

Based on existing rumour, the Galaxy Note 2 screen will sit larger than its current incarnation with a 5.5-inch panel, although not based on new display technology some had expected to grace the device, developed by Samsung. The Note 2’s camera is also in dispute with a possibility of uprating its current 8-megapixel sensor to a 12 or even 13-megapixel one, although this would then dwarf that of the sensor currently used by the Galaxy S3 and iPhone 4S. As the first major Android device scheduled to launch following Google I/O, there’s also the strong possibility of the Note 2 offering up Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out the box.

The source of the IFA talks launch, makes reference of these rumours by saying, “There are also talks of improving the resolution to a 12.0 or 13.0 megapixel camera, up from the current 8.0 megapixels, but the interim on this may be changed by other factors. It will not, however, showcase the unbreakable plane (UBP) display technology, a precursor to the flexible display. UBP will most likely be applied for the next product released after Galaxy Note 2. “

With this news we now only have three weeks to wait to see what Samsung are cooking up.
