The forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S II looks like it won’t be arrive this month with several online shops pushing its release date somewhere into May 2011.
Being postponed two months will mean that the Samsung phone will face other dual-core phones already established in the UK, whilst rumours of The Next iPhone will probably have reached fever-pitch in the run-up to a summer launch.
At Play, the UK site has dropped the price to £599.99, a £50 chop from the initial price, and have said that they expect to have stock this May 2011.
Similarly, Expansys have also adjusted their release dates, again moving from March to May.
Reasons for the postponement could be that the Korean giant was unable to manufacture enough of its own processors for the meaty dual-core Galaxy S II. It looks like some of their phones will come with Nvidia chipsets– similar to those found in rival phones, gasp!
The Galaxy S II is a thinner, lighter, more powerful sequel to the Galaxy S. For a breif few weeks, it was the slimmest phone in the world, but has now been ousted by the Japan-only NEC Medias.
The screen will also get an upgrade to Samsung’s latest Super AMOLED plus, both rear-facing and front-facing cameras, with the main eight-megapixel cam capable of recording full HD video.
