Samsung Galaxy S5 hits pre-order for £600

After its unveiling at MWC, Samsung’s new flagship, the Galaxy S5 is now available SIM free on pre-order for just under £600.

MWC saw the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and it’s already been made available for pre-order on sites like unlocked-mobiles.com. The main features include a 16-megapixel camera, fingerprint sensor, power saving technology and IP67 waterproofing. It’s marginally heavier than the Galaxy S4 at 145g, and measures 142 x 72.5 x 8.1mm.

Still photos can be captured in an impressive 0.3 seconds and Samsung claims that the S5’s snapper can take high quality shots in any lighting condition. The fingerprint scanner, meanwhile, allows you to secure your private information and it can be used to pay for goods and services too.

The ultra-power-saving mode turns your display to black and white when the battery reaches critical at 10 per cent and will only allow calls and texts in this state. Supposedly this will guarentee up to an additional 24 hours of use. Handy in a pinch.

The phone is also boasts IP67 certified water and dustproofing, meaning it’ll still be able to function even if your Galaxy S5 gets wet. The phone also boasts a heart rate sensor, which enables you to monitor yourself when exercising. What’s more, the Galaxy S5 can also detect when you look away from your screen, just like its predecessor.

The European S5 will also be one of the first handsets to utilise Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 processor, a quad-core chip clocked at a nippy 2.5GHz. Expect fluid multitaksing, solid support for the latest apps and games and new capabilties like Kids mode. This will let you protect content on your device which you don’t want little fingers grabbing hold of. It also enables your children to only use pre-installed apps approved by you.
