Tough luck, extreme sports fans; it looks like Samsung’s take on the ‘tough touchscreen’ type of phone, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover, has been delayed until January.
The Galaxy Xcover is a ruggedised, life-proof phone that’s taken a leaf out of the Motorola Defy and Defy+ book.
Its scratch-resistant display and dust plugs for the connections are bolstered by IP67 certification, which means it can survive underwater immersion for half an hour at depths of up to 15 centimetres.
With a 3.65-inch touchscreen and a metallic trim it’s certainly more approachable and easier on the eye than the tough-but-retro Samsung Solid Immerse.
Other specs include Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 3.2-megapixel camera and an 800MHz processor.
Handtec has a pre-order page up for the Samsung Galaxy Xcover stating a January release date for the phone and a price; £224.39 unlocked and SIM-free. We’ve not heard anything official from Samsung about a UK release date, not have we hear that any of the networks are picking this up just yet.
