…and now for something completely different. The Samsung Monte is a mid-range touchscreen phone with an emphasis on social networking. Similar to Samsung’s Corby, which was announced last September, the Samsung Monte brings social networking on the go to the masses and comes in a range of colours.
Dedicated applications for Facebook and Myspace come pre-installed, as do widgets for Twitter and Bebo. So if you’ve a preference for tweeting or, er, poking, then the Monte might be the phone for you.
Camera-wise you get a 3.2-megapixel camera. There’s no flash but you do get some nice extras such as face-detection, smile shot and panorama shot. We really wish it had an LED photo light or flash though, seeing as 90 per cent of all Facebook photos appear to be of inebriated friends – presumably taken at night when lighting is poor.
The 200MB of onboard memory can be expanded to 16GB through the microSD slot, so you’ll have plenty of space for pics on the Monte.
The Samsung Monte comes in three different colour combos: black and orange, graphite and black, and white and red. The Samsung Monte looks set to arrive in the UK in April but no word on price yet.
