Sky News app launches on Windows Phone 7

Sky News has announced that it’s app will be available on Windows Phone handsets, so WP7 users can catch up on the latest news, including videos on their mobile phones.

Currently over 4 million people have download the Sky News app, which is already available for Android and iOS.

The app includes the same content as rival operating systems, including selection of news feeds, Live TV, Video and Radio bulletins and Your Report. However Sky has worked with Microsoft to ensure the interface has been refreshed to match Windows Phone 7.

Categories such as Top Stories, UK News, World News, Sport, Business and Politics run along the top and news stories can be shared via Facebook and Twitter.

James Weeks from Sky News Interactive, comments: “This app merges all the best bits of our brand, design and content with the look and feel of Windows Phone. We are delighted with the development of this product and believe it further demonstrates Sky News’ commitment to provide content to evergrowing news platforms. “

Nick Hedderman from Windows Phone UK comments: “Seeing Sky News’ great news content brought to life for mobile phone users by the unique Windows Phone user interface is very exciting. Windows Phone users will be very happy.”

Although the app is free to download, if you are streaming live TV over 3G, be careful to avoid hefty download charges.

The Sky News app is available for UK and Ireland only, either to download via the Zune software or directly from a Windows Phone 7 handset.
