Sky has updated Sky News iPhone app. Version 2 brings a new design, image galleries, live blogging and improved navigation.
The Sky News app has been a huge success for Sky, with over 3 million downloads, now the app has been totally redesigned. Instead of a list of news stories, each news section includes a main story at the top of the section, with a video link where relevant.
Other new features include:
- Technology News so you can keep up with the latest on the new iPad or Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich update, joining UK News, World News, Politics, Showbiz and Strange News genres
- The ability to swipe between stories and categories
- Picture galleries, interactive images, graphics, time line and live blogs
- Live TV over 3G and WiFi
- Your Report – where you can send news straight to the Sky Newsroom via the app
Andrew Hawken, from Sky News Digital, comments: ‘This is a big step forward for our iPhone app. We are constantly striving to make the user experience the very best across all our platforms. I know our customers will enjoy the more intuitive approach we’ve created within the app as well as the richer and more in depth news experience it offers.’
Behind the scenes, the Sky News app is now supported by Sky’s in-house content management system, enabling – Sky says – more synergy between devices.
The update to Sky News for iPhone is available to download now, Sky says this is specifically for iPhone, but we image these new features will be coming to the Android app eventually.
