Windows Phone continues to attain more and more apps as the months go on, but where in the world is Skype? Microsoft bought the company in October and kept their lips sealed as to an exact release for a Windows Phone Skype application since then.
Turns out we may not have to wait much longer. Rick Osterloh, VP of products at Skype, revealed that Microsoft are “working on a Windows Phone product that will be coming out soon”.
According to The Verge, the first release of Skype for Windows Phone won’t feature any deep integration into the OS, and will simply be a standalone app. Further integration won’t come until the Apollo update, which is due in Q4 of this year. Before that Microsoft is expected to push out their Tango update, due in Q2.
When can we see Skype for Windows Phone? There’s still no exact release details, but all signs seem to be pointing towards next month at Mobile World Congress.
