While the majority of high end Android smartphones are already running – or will be imminently – Android 2.2 (aka Froyo), Sony Ericsson is finally ready to update the Sony Ericsson X10 to Android 2.1. That’s Eclair, for those of you who can’t bring themselves to cast their minds back.
The update brings with it 720p HD video recording, five homescreens, a new back up and restore app and social phonebook (which syncs your Facebook contacts).
The first notifications will roll out to the Nordic states on Sunday Oct 31st, with the rest of Europe getting the updates throughout November. It won’t be as simple as an OTA update though, you’ll have to install it using the Sony Ericsson PC app, but instructions should pop up onscreen.
The Sony Ericsson X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro will also be receiving the same software update, but no HD video recording functionality.
