Sony Ericsson Xperia mini pro: Titchy slider set to arrive on Orange in UK

It’s been pretty quiet when it comes to Sony Ericsson’s latest – tiny- additions to its premium Xperia phone range.

Both the Xperia mini and the Xperia mini pro (not to be confused with the X10 mini pro, last year’s model) were revealed at an exclusive launch event, but we’ve barely heard any news regarding the very-nearly-here release date of Q3 2011.

Now Orange has joined O2 and Vodafone in announcing that it’ll also be stocking the Xperia mini pro, an Android smartphone with a 3-inch touchscreen and full QWERTY sliding keyboard.

An update from 2010’s Xperia X10 mini pro, there’s been a few retweaks, with buttons now unified to a more common ‘back’, ‘home’, ‘menu’ setup. The touchscreen now runs at a higher 320×480 resolution, and Sony Ericsson have brought in their Mobile Bravia technology, to improve colours and vividness of the screen.

There is also a 1GHz processor to power all that, and the latest version of Android, currently Gingerbread.

No news yet on pricing or release date, but we’ll be sure to bring you more info when we get it.
