Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo gets Android update early in Europe

Owners of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo in some parts of Europe can now download the update to Android 2.3.4 – a few weeks earlier than anticipated.

Last month Sony Ericsson announced the update will start  in October as a ‘phased rollout’ to existing handsets including the Xperia Play, Xperia Arc and Xperia Neo.

However according to Esato news, owners of the Neo in some Nordic countries such as Holland can access it now. The update takes the build from 4.0.A.2.368 to 4.0.1.A.0.283.

The most exiting feature of Android 2.3.4 is the 3D Sweep Panorama and Sweep Panorama function, where you can take panoramic photographs in camera. We tried it out when we first saw the Xperia Arc S and were really impressed, check out our hands-on shots here.

Other features including compatibility with the new Live Doc accessory, an updated Facebook application and Google Talk with Video chat.  Screen Capture is welcome addition as is Swipe Text Input.

Unfortunately for fans of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc hoping for the Panorama update to bring it more in line with the Arc S, it’s only available for the Neo at the moment, but we’ll bring you news of future updates when we get it.
