We really like Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play. It’s not the PSP Phone that everyone was hoping it to be, but we still think its pretty decent.
So if you were still twiddling your thumbs and thinking about getting one, then you’ll no doubt be pleased to hear that the Xperia Play has recently taken a price tumble over on Expansys. The online retailer is currently selling the Play for a super-cheap £199.99. That’s a huge drop down from its original price tag, which was around the £400 mark.
Not only is this a huge discount, the price drop comes at a good time. Next month Sony is due to release another raft of PS1 classics for the Xperia Play ahead of the launch of the PlayStation Suite next Spring.
Chances of our Final Fantasy VII wishes being granted are slimmer than Sephiroth’s Masamune, but we can dream.
Oh yeah, did we mention that Minecraft: Pocket Edition is an Xperia Play exclusive (for the time being)? The long-awaited mobile edition of the popular block building game doesn’t give you the full experience of the desktop web edition. But it is good fun being able to build log cabins in the hills on the train ride into work. And we really can’t see it being quite as fun to play on a phone without the Xperia Play’s control set up.
