Sony Ericsson Xperia Play launches with over 60 titles, PS1 classics priced at £3.99

Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play, the long-awaited PSP Phone, is finally actually really here. It seems like we’ve been saying this for months, but it really is. It launches today with over 60 games due to arrive over the next week.

A mixture of PlayStation classics and Android titles are already available to download now.

Some of the games you’ll already have heard about. The PS1 originals are Cool Boarders 2, Destruction Derby, MediEvil, Syphon Filter and Jumping Jack Flash, all from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc and all priced £3.99.

No sign of any of the games that made our Xperia Play wishlist. We hope a deal with Square Enix gets sorted sharpish, so we can get Final Fantasy VII on our Xperia Play. Hopefully within two shakes of a Moogle’s pom pom.

As well as the PS1 old schoolers, there’s a healthy range of Android titles as well that have been customised so that they can be played with the Xperia Play’s slide out controllers.

This really makes a difference with FPS and football games in particular, where you really need to be able to see all the screen, so see whose shooting at you/who to pass the ball to.

Crash Bandicoot comes pre-installed, as does FIFA10, Star Battalion, The Sims 3, Tetris and Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior.
