Sony Ericsson Xperia Play price slashed

It’s only been out for a few months, but you can now get the the Android Gingerbread Sony Ericsson Xperia Play for a (fairly) cheap price, thanks to some dramatic price drops online.

Expansys is selling it sim free for £289, while Amazon has it priced at £332 that’s a drop of around £200 from the suggested price and the last price includes a 16GB MicroSD card. Carphone Warehouse is still selling it for £499, while it costs £519 from O2.

When retailers cut prices it usually means they have stock to shift or to make way for a new model and because the phone is so new it looks like it could be the former.

£299 seems an incredibly cheap price considering the features and performance. Rocking a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor and huge 4-inch screen, it certainly has the hardware prowess. Read our Sony Ericsson Xperia Play review here.

There was a lot of hype about the Xperia Play being the first official Playstation phone, however
it was the gaming ability that let the handset down. Although you dedicated gaming controls it only launched with 30 games the majority of which were Android and no access to the PlayStation Suite. Since then it’s had a new burst of life thanks to the launch of a new selection of games.

Are you going to invest in an Xperia Play now the price has dropped? We think it’s fantastic value for £299. Let us know below or on Facebook and Twitter @recombu.
