The Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray could be landing in the UK next week as early as Monday according to Amazon.
The UK online retailer is advertising a sim-free version of the phone for £329.99 and underneath it says: ‘This item is due to be released on September 5th 2011.’
We’ve known for some time that the Xperia Ray is coming this month, O2 announced a September launch on its Coming Soon page, while Vodafone has also confirmed it will be selling it.
According to Play.com the mobile phone will be available slightly later – on the following Friday. On its website a sim free Xperia Ray costs £349.99 and is: ‘Due for release on 09 September 2011.’
Running Android Gingerbread 2.3.3, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray is one of the handsets we are most excited about. We had a brief hands-on with the phone at a Sony showcase early this year and it’s a stunning piece of kit, fashioned from aluminium and mineral glass and a very svelte 9.4mm deep.
A highlight is undeniably the 3.3-inch Reality Display screen, which has a high resolution of 854×480 pixels and is also scratch resistant.
Like the Xperia Arc, it includes Sony Ericsson’s new Exmor R CMOS sensor especially designed for mobile, which can capture 8-megapixel stills and 720p HD videos.
We’ll have to wait until next week to see if the phone arrives, but we’ll bring you a review as soon as possible.
