Clove UK is offering both handsets SIM Free and unlocked; the entry-level Sony XperiaMiro price clocking in at a reasonable £126 and the more capable Xperia Go priced at £225. We did find the Xperia Go slightly cheaper at unlocked-mobiles.com where one can be yours for just £219.
The Xperia Go is the beefier of the two devices, not just thanks to its dual-core 1GHz processor and its 720p video recording talents via its 5-megapixel camera, but it also boasts an IP67 standard of dust, water and shock resistance, making it one tough nut to crack.
The Miro is the smaller of the two handsets, featured in Sony Mobile’s recent Facebook campaign where followers were able to roll the launch of the device forward and managed to do so by five whole days. The Miro offers the same 3.5-inch HVGA (320×480) display as the Go, but opts for a less powerful 800MHz single-core CPU. On the upside it too boasts a 5-megapixel camera and front-facing shooter to sweeten the deal. Connectivity-wise both devices are the same, save for the Miro’s slightly older Bluetooth 2.1 technology and it also comes running Android Ice Cream Sandwich out the box, whilst the Go will receive the jump up from Gingerbread in the coming months.
There’s no direct release dates yet for either device, but assume sometime this month or at a push, the start of August.
