Sony Xperia L2 Tips & Tricks Guide

Our Xperia L2 tips and tricks guide shows off some of the best hidden features of Sony’s budget smartphone. Perhaps you want to get the most from your new Sony Xperia L2 handset. Maybe you’re simply curious about some of the smart software packed inside the device. Either way, here’s a run-down of our favourite features.

The Xperia L2 may be one of Sony’s more affordable phones, yet the device still packs plenty of great little features. Sadly it’s an older version of Google’s Android OS crammed inside (the creaky Nougat OS, which came out in 2016). All the same, Sony has added a fresh lick of paint and slapped on some neat bonus functionality.

Check out our complete L2 tips and tricks video below to see some of the best hidden features in action. We’ll also show you how to customise your phone, to get it just the way you like it.

Sony Xperia L2 tips and tricks: One-handed help

For instance, the Xperia L2 is a bit of a chunky monkey, thanks to its 5.5-inch display and wide bezels. However, dive into the setting menu and scroll to one-handed help. In this menu you’ll find a screen shrinking feature, plus many more helpful tricks for easier one-handed use.

With that screen shrinking feature enabled, simply swipe your finger from a bottom corner of the screen towards the centre. This will make your desktops and apps more compact.

Sony Xperia L2 tips and tricks: Xperia Actions

Sony’s Xperia Actions is a neat way of automating your Xperia L2 smartphone. Head to the Assist section of the L2’s settings menu and you’ll find the Xperia Actions option hidden away. Tap into this and you can set your phone to automatically silence itself at night, as just one example. We also love the gaming mode, which can prevent notifications while you’re busy beating your high score. You can even allocate extra resources to more demanding titles, for improved performance.

Sony Xperia L2 tips and tricks: Battery saver

Luckily the Xperia L2 packs a massive battery, so you can expect well over a day of play from a single charge. However, if you find yourself running low with no sign of a plug, don’t fret. Sony has packed in a Stamina Mode and Ultra Stamina Mode, to help out in desperate situations.

Just head to the battery section of the Xperia L2’s settings menu and you can tap these to activate them. Stamina Mode culls some non-essential features to help in a pinch, while the Ultra version strips back the phone to basic functionality. That’s very handy if you’re on the battery dregs, and need to stay in touch with the world a little longer.
