Sony Xperia U: Leaked images galore

A veritable goldmine of images has leaked, getting us very up-close and personal with the Sony Xperia U. Having previously gone by the name ST25i ‘Kumquat’, we expect the Xperia U to be launched at MWC along-side the Sony Xperia P, aka LT22i ‘Nypon’.

The images spotted over at XPERIA blog earlier today provide a side-by-side comparison of the Sony Xperia U with Sony’s upcoming flagship, the Sony Xperia S.

Believed to sport a 1GHz dual-core processor, 3.5-inch qHD diaplay and 5-megapixel camera, the Sony Ericsson Xperia U certainly has respectable specs and we can’t help but be reminded of the much-loved Sony Ericsson K810i with its squared off corners and overall styling.

More will be revealed about the Sony Xperia U in Barcelona at the end of the month, though one thing can be said for sure – the release version definitely won’t have the Sony Ericsson logo displayed in the following images garnishing its upper portion.

Looking like a mini Xperia S, the Xperia U appears to reiterate a new styling direction for the Xperia line.

The transparent banding around the base actually houses the Sony Xperia S’ antenna, will it be the same on the Xperia U?

On the revers of the Sony Xperia S is the 12-megapixel camera while the Xperia U has a humbler 5-megapixel sensor.

The Sony Xperia U has a removable battery unlike its bigger brother, the Sony Xperia S.
