UPDATED: Sony’s latest NXT device, the Xperia U is finally appearing on store shelves and we’ve scanned the top mobile retailers’ sites to bring you the most up to date pricing and availability.

The Xperia U is the baby of the three new Sony Mobile devices that make up the NXT family. With a 1GHz dual-core processor, 3.5-inch WVGA display, 5-megapixel camera and 8GB internal storage, this device isn’t to be underestimated and at the price point it’s entering the market, an absolute bargain in our opinion. PAYG: No mention of the Xperia U on PAYG from T-Mobile.

Pay Monthly: Free on contract from £15.50 a month for 24 months; this includes 100 minutes, unlimited texts (as an exchangeable Booster) and 250MB of data.

PAYG: No pricing available yet.

Pay Monthly: The Sony Xperia U is available now from The Orange shop free on Dolphin Promo plan with 50MB internet, 50 minutes and 500 texts.

PAYG: Across all  PAYG tariffs, the Xperia U costs £179.99.
Pay Monthly: Customer can pick up a free handset from £13.50 a month on a 24 month contract. Included is 50 minutes of call time, 250 texts (with an optional unlimited texts extra), 100MB of data and the option to upgrade a month earlier than contract completion.

PAYG: The handset costs £169.99 on Three’s PAYG tariff.
Pay Monthly: A free handset is available on Three’s Essential 500 plan and up, which costs £20 a month for 24 months. Included are 500 minutes, 5000 texts and 250MB of data.
