Tributes to Steve Jobs came pouring in when word of his passing was announced. This bronze statue however looks to be the first three-dimensional tribute to the late co-founder of Apple Inc.
Erected in the campus of Graphisoft’s Budapest offices, the bronze statue depicts a bespectacled, turtle neck-wearing Jobs holding an iPhone in his right hand. The work of sculptor Erno Toth, the statue was commissioned by Graphisoft, an architectural software company which Jobs helped to get off the ground in the 1980’s.
“He was one of the greatest (personalities) in our era, that’s what we wanted to express with this sculpture here,” Graphisoft Chairman Gabor Bojar told Reuters.
“In some ways, Apple was a religion. We have felt his spirit every day and now it is embodied,” he said. “We hope that we can deserve with our entrepreneurial culture in Hungary what this sculpture expresses as a message.”
The sculpture’s plaque features the quote “The only way to to great work is to love what you do,” attributed to Jobs.
