Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP Micro hits iPhone for £1.79

An iPhone version of the mesmerising Sword & Sworcery EP has just arrived in the App Store.

The point and click adventure, originally released for iPad, can be snapped up now for £1.79.

If you’ve already bought this game on your iPad then you’ll be pleased to know that you can re-download this on your iPhone to save you having to buy it again.

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP Micro (phew) is less of a game and more of an ‘audio-visual experience’ type thing.

Much of the joy in the game is to be had tapping things on the screen to see what sounds they make, unlocking secrets, that sort of thing. It’s crammed with some subtle (and some not so subtle) references to games and pop culture – Zelda, Twin Peaks, Double Rainbow Guy and even Ricky Gervais’ dance from The Office all get a look in.

You can also tweet your discoveries as you go, with your character’s observations bearing the #sworcery hashtag – you might have seen this popping up all over Twitter recently.

To get the full effect, It’s best experienced with your headphones plugged in. The soundtrack itself is eminently hummable, full of memorable melodies worthy of any Zelda game.

Speaking of which, you can download Jim Guthrie’s soundtrack separately from iTunes for £6.99 right now.

A true fan will want to check out the vinyl LP version, which you can order now for $30 Canadian Dollars, which works out at about £25 when you convert and add costs for shipping.

Demand for the original has been so overwhelming that Guthrie, who is handling the whole distribution himself, has had problems getting everything shipped on time – orders will now be shipping “on or around” the 30th of May.
