Surface event held by Microsoft on May 20th

Microsoft sends out invitations for its next Surface event, signalling the imminent arrival of the ‘Surface Mini’.

Up to anything on May 20th? No? Good. Microsoft have just sent out invitations to a Microsoft Surface event, with the tagline “join us for a small gathering”, no doubt a tease for the rumoured miniature version of the Surface tablet, and we’ll be covering it in full.

Microsoft Surface Mini to be unveiled at Microsoft launch event on May 20?

Microsoft have reportedly been working on a ‘Surface Mini’ for nearly two years, and the new miniature Surface will allegedly come with a 7.5 inch, 1440 x 1080 display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. This means that its shape will be similar to Apple’s iPad line rather than the larger Surface tablets.

The miniature Surface will also come with a Qualcomm processor under the hood, and will unfortunately run Windows RT than full Windows 8, if rumours are to be believed.

Although Microsoft has not officially announced the miniature Surface, they have stated: “We have a lot of great things that we are thinking about and working on, and there are multiple aspect ratios and sizes and awesome things to come from Surface.”
