Remember SwiftKey? It’s a clever keyboard available for Android that has crazy word prediction skills, achieved by a combination of their Natural Language Processing technology, and optionally by plugging in to various social networks to spot your typing trends.
Today SwiftKey have announced that they’re making their SDK available to all Android OEMs, which opens up the possibility of working the technology into existing custom keyboards. SwiftKey aren’t just looking to leverage this tech for smartphones and tablets, though – they also forsee a time when it could be worked into Smart TVs and other assisted devices.
Downloaded over five million times, SwiftKey is certainly one of the most popular software keyboards, and having used the keyboard before ourselves, we have to say it works as advertised. It’ll be interesting to see if any Android OEMs work support into their future devices. Anything that makes typing on a smartphone easier is OK with us.
