You may have read about the Nokia N9 and the new C-Series of mid-range handsets this morning, but Nokia has reaffirmed its commitment to Symbian by announcing that 10 new smartphones will be released within the next 12 months.
From July, the Nokia N8, E7, C7 and C6-01 handsets will also be shipping with the Diana software update, while existing Nokia users will be able to get the update via a PC or over the air.
Speaking at the Nokia Connection event in Singapore, Stephen Elop, Nokia President and CEO comments: “Innovation is at the heart of our strategy, and today we took important steps to demonstrate a new pace of innovation at Nokia. It’s the beginning of a new era for Nokia.”
Anna looks to be a significant update for Nokia. New features include a faster web browser, enhanced icons, as well as improvements to text input with a virtual QWERTY with a new split-screen view when typing.
Other more business orientated features include instant messaging via Microsoft Communicator Mobile, full meeting request support and intranet access.
OVI maps have also been updated so users will be to check into social networking websites including: Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare.
We’ll bring you more information on the Diana update and of course the new Symbian handsets as soon as we get them.
