TalkTalk’s members-only budget mobile phone packages have won more customers than ever before in 2013.
The broadband, home phone, TV and mobile provider now has more than 260,000 mobile phone customers, adding 108,000 since the end of 2012.
Analysts said TalkTalk is now well-placed to take advantage of a year when more than half of British homes are expected to take up tablet ownership.
Russell Feldman, director in Technology & Telecoms at YouGov, said: ‘Tablets have truly crossed into the mass market over the past year and in the next twelve months we confidently expect close to 50 per cent of all households in the UK to own one of the devices.
“Tablet sales will come from both new owners entering the market for the first time but also to current owners that are looking to purchase another device.”
TalkTalk Mobile added 24,000 new customers in the final three months of 2013, after strong summer and autumn campaigns focused around SIM-only deals.
Many of TalkTalk’s handsets are available in monthly deals with a range of Android tablets, but TalkTalk Mobile is only open to its existing broadband customers.
TalkTalk Mobile customers also get free MobileSafe, a security suite for Android phones that lets parents block access to pornographic sites, social networks and gambling sites, and includes antivirus to scan apps for malware and anti-theft tracking.
