TalkTalk launching own-brand mobile phone service

Internet and landline services are no longer enough for TalkTalk, the company best known for sponsoring Big Brother ‘til that racism row kicked in. Oh, and for offering free internet and stuff like that. The chatty company will be launching an own-branded mobile phone service offering contract and pay-as-you-go deals in the coming Autumn.

Just like Tesco Mobile, which offers its own tarrifs but runs off the O2 network, TalkTalk’s mobile division will run on Vodafone so reception shouldn’t be an issue. TalkTalk chairman Charles Dunstone said it would be making a gentle entry into the mobile services arena, but will be offering competitive pricing as well as bundles for customers who take out landline, broadband and mobile phone services with the company.
