After a (relatively) successful launch Stateside, Murdoch’s The Daily paper for iPad is finally available from the UK App Store.
Created especially for the iPad, The Daily works pretty much exactly as you’d expect an iPad paper or magazine to work, with video, interactive photos, web elements (competitive SuDoku!) and all the other iPad mag bells and whistles. Content looks to be broad and is split into six sections: news, business, sports, opinion, apps and games and gossip.
However, early reviews in the App Store for the UK launch have been less than glowing, with early adopters complaining that content is too US-centric to justify making The Daily available in the UK App Store.
Costing 69p for a single daily Daily (sorry) and £27.99 for a year-long subscription, The Daily is in the App Store now. New users can also sign up for a two week free trial of The Daily before deciding whether or not to hand over their readies to Murdoch and Co. Not sure what all the fuss is about?
