Three launches free Facebook app for ‘every phone’

Three and Facebook will launch the Facebook for every phone app, starting tomorrow (22nd July).

The Java-powered app, aimed at simpler feature phones, is free to download, and for Three customers, you’ll also get six months free access, with no data charges.

Bringing across the main functions of Facebook, the app has been optimised for minimal data transfer and speed. You’ll also be able to upload photos to your profile and synchronise Facebook profiles and contacts on your phone.

Three’s Charlotte Spencer, Director of Products and Services, said: “Our customers love Facebook, which is why we are delighted to be able to offer them a new way to stay in touch and why we are extending the free offer to six-months rather than just 90 days.

“Although more and more of our customers are now using smartphones, this deal ensures that those on older handsets can still have a great Facebook experience on their phone – and can begin to see what the benefits would be of having All-you-can-eat data.”

Free Facebook app access will last until January 31st 2012.
