Top 10 free Rugby Android Apps

With the Rugby World Cup 2011 in full swing, we thought we would take the chance (while England are still unbeaten) to take a look at the top rugby apps out there at the moment.


Rugby World Cup 2011

So where better to start than with the Rugby World Cup App? This is a very simple app that has everything that any rugby fanatic could want. With a combination of News, Match Centre, Videos, Teams, Tournament and Fan Zone you are never far away from the latest news and updates. The best feature has to be the video though – with comprehensive highlights of every game and a daily show, all rugby fans are sure to never miss a thing. Another neat feature in this app is the Stadium Info where you can find pictures, descriptions and even directions.


Rugby News

Yann Marec has created a very simple app here that will please any rugby fan without being too glamorous or over-the-top. The app is a simple live news feed that updates automatically every time you open it. You can choose which news you can receive with anything from the Aviva Premiership to to the World Cup and even the Super 15. All news stories have links to the original websites where you can read the story in full and as well as news, the app also gives you the results from all of your chosen competitions.


Finger Flick Rugby

Bored on the train? Had enough of brain dead television? Then Finger Flick Rugby is the perfect app to quell the boredom for anything between five minutes up until you get finger cramp. This game has a bit of the Paper Toss app about it, with the same addictiveness to continually do better – as you deal with different distances and take wind into account. Although there is one strange options when it comes to the Finger Flick, there is the option that instead of flicking a rugby ball through the posts, you can flick a water melon. Interesting.

 


Premiership Rugby

The guys at Sotic Ltd have brought us the official Premiership Rugby App and it is a very simple and easy app to use. It offers the league table, all fixtures, fixtures related to a specific team and ticket information for the Premiership Final. However it does lose out to the Super League App in a big way, because it has no video highlights. But on the bright side it does have live written commentary of all the games as well as tournament history and details and directions of all the clubs in the Aviva Premiership.

For those who are not a fan of rugby union and a find the league side of rugby far more attractive – then this app is definitely for you. Super League provides everything you need to know with Latest News, Fixtures, Results and Video. It is quick and easy to use and you also have the chance to go more in-depth and read about news specific to your favourite team and you can also get a brief player profile of every player of every team. Definitely a must for the rugby fan that chooses Old Trafford over Twickenham.


Irish Rugby

For all you Irish rugby fans out there – the Irish Rugby App is definitely for you. There is also a comprehensive live news feed that updates automatically every time the app starts and of course  there is a full league table so you can weep or grin with depending whereyour team is residing.

This app does exactly what it says on the tin. You get to see accurate and up-to-date rankings of every team in the world and not only that but you also get to see their ranking points too. This app also has a comprehensive news service from all over the world that does that beautiful refresh every time you open it. A very simple app that does the job it sets out to do – and perfect if you fancy cheating in a rugby sport quiz, next round is on you!
