Toshiba introduces 7-inch ‘Thrive’ Honeycomb tablet

Toshiba is extending its range of tablets, adding a 7-inch tablet to its range. A page has appeared on the Toshiba US website, detailing a new 7-inch Thrive tablet from the Japanese consumer electronics giant.

Powered by a 7-inch Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, it runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb and is available in 16GB and 32GB versions.

Measuring 188x128x12mm, it’s slimmer than the 7-inch Blackberry Playbook, although the AutoBrite LED Backlit Display has the same 1280×800 resolution. Other features include front and rear facing HD cameras, Bluetooth and GPS.

It’s the third tablet release from Toshiba this year. The Thrive 10” Tablet launched in the US earlier, becoming the Toshiba AT100 when it landed in the UK earlier this month.

Toshiba also announced another 10-inch tablet the AT200 at IFA this year, at 7.7mm deep, it currently holds the title ‘world’s slimmest tablet.’ Check out our hands-on here.

Following this naming patten it’s unlikely to remain called the Thrive if it lands in the UK.

The Thrive is arriving in the US in November 2011, but there’s no news on UK pricing or availability yet UPDATE: We’ve heard from Toshiba UK that this tablet has only been announced for the US and Philippines.
