We’ve got our hands on the most recent beta version of Tweetdeck for Android and we thought we’d let you know what we think.
So far, so very slick; it’s very faithful to the desktop version we know and love. You can easily add and delete columns and it has that familiar grey and yellow visual theme. Flicking between columns is as effortless as you’d hope. Yellow lights at the top of the screen notify you of which columns are displaying new messages or updates. As you can see in the pic above there’s a new message waiting for us in the middle column.
Twitter and Facebook messages are mixed together well in the main column, and you can reply to, retweet or like people’s messages as you would normally. We’ve not checked out how Foursquare or Buzz works in the app just yet; stay tuned for the full review when Tweetdeck for Android comes out of beta.
If you want to check out the beta of Tweedeck on your Android phone then you’ll need to head on over here to register your details.
Before installing the app, make sure you’ve changed your Android phone’s settings so that you can install non-Market Android applications (Settings > Applications > check ‘Unknown sources’).
You’ll also need to install tAttachApkInstaller from the Market which will install the Tweetdeck app for you (we’ve included a link below).
Once you’ve done all that, simply follow the link in the email that you’ll be sent, select ‘tAttachApkInstaller’ when prompted and voila. We’re really impressed with Tweedeck for Android so far and we’re looking forwards to the full version with bated breath. Let us know what you think in the comments.
