ViewSonic has thrown its hat into the ring for the latest round of tablet scraps, announcing its new “hyper-slim” ViewPad 10e.
Squeezed into that dainty body we find a 1GHz processor and 4GB of storage, expandable through Micro SD card up to 32GB. In terms of connectivity, ViewPad 10e owners can expect Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity and a 720p video out connection through a micro USB socket. All this hidden behind a 9.7-inch display and weighing in at 620g.
So it’s no porker, but we’re not sure about that “hyper-slim” label. Thin, yes. Skinny, maybe. But 9.1mm and 620g makes it at the same time thicker and heavier than Apple’s iPad 2 and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1. In ViewSonic’s defence, the tablet is apparently being marketed toward the “value conscious consumer”, so as long as it launches with with a sub-£400 price tag, the ViewPad 10e may find its niche.
