Virgin Media has introduced two new PAYG plans – one for those who place data usage at the top of their mobile priorities, whilst the other lets users do the more conventional thing and talk for as long as they like. Virgin Media have included these new plans in the ‘bigging up’ of its PAYG structure and look set to offer some of the most competitive rates around.
The first plan, Big Data & Texts offers users who top up £10 a month unlimited data, 300 texts and £10 worth of minutes at Virgin’s standard rates, whilst a jump to £15 a month adds unlimited texts into the mix with £15 worth of minutes at Virgin’s standard rates.
Should data usage not be of concern for you, there’s also the new Big Talk tariff, which includes unlimited UK landline calls, 120 UK mobile minutes and £10 of airtime (with a £10 top up), or for £15 top up, customers can again throw unlimited texts into the mix as well as £15 worth of airtime after you exceed the 120 minutes for mobile calls. As always Virgin Media customers who make use of the company’s other services, like broadband and TV also receive free Virgin Media to Virgin Media calls.
Jamie Heywood, Director of Mobile at Virgin Media said, “Unlimited data is a must to get the most out of the amazing smartphones available today. People want to be connected wherever they are so we’ve introduced unlimited data without the ties of a contract. Having introduced unbeatable pay-monthly tariffs earlier this year, we’re now introducing incredible value pay-as-you-go tariffs too which makes Virgin Media the unbeatable choice for unlimited data. ”
As confident a statement as that may be, although Virgin Media will have to contend with the likes of Three’s SIM-Only plans and giffgaff’s Goodybag. The current £10 Big Data & Texts plan does however place Virgin Media at the front of the pack for affordability in the SIM-Only PAYG space. Find out more here.
