Virgin Mobile customers can now use the Orange network

A Virgin Media representative has exclusively told Recombu that from this week, Virgin Mobile customers will now be able to use the Orange network to make and receive calls, make texts and browse the internet.

This is fantastic news for Virgin Mobile customers: more coverage means a wider range of places to make calls throughout the UK.

Virgin Mobile is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (like Tesco) so doesn’t own network of it’s own. Instead it currently uses T-Mobile’s network.

Earlier this year T-Mobile and Orange merged to create EverythingEverywhere customers from both networks benefit ting from increased coverage throughout the UK.

Following the merger, it was only a matter of time before Virgin Media customers would benefit from coverage on both networks, although it seems now either a deal has been reached or it has become technically viable

The roll out will be completed by the end of the year. All new customers can automatically use Orange, while existing Virgin Media customers will start to receive texts informing them of the news very soon. Alternatively text Yes to 789777 to opt in.
