Vodafone has issued a statement explaining the issues that arose due to damaged equipment but has denied any effects on data.
“We had a break in last night at one of our technical facilities which resulted in damage done to some of our equipment. This means that some customers may be experiencing temporary loss of voice, SMS and internet services.
The network outages were first reported in a post by website TechRadar earlier today. Given the number of smartphones currently overloading the countries networks the odd bit of slow data is acceptable. Seems this time it was caused by something else.
“We are working quickly to restore these and will be back to normal as soon as we can. There has been no impact on the privacy of customers’ data.” said a Vodafone spokesperson.
The network operator is yet to confirm the exact reason for the outage, as to whether it was equipment or vandalism.
Vodafone is currently trying to rectify the problem as quickly as possible.
