OK, who actually saw this one coming? The HTC Magic, one of the oldest Android phones out there, is due to receive an OTA (over the air) update to Android 2.2.1 (aka Froyo) this morning.
HTC Magic owners on Vodafone should receive an update in the status bar of their phones at some point today. From there just follow the on screen prompts and you should be rocking Froyo on your phone in no time at all.
Vodafone recommends that you download it over Wi-Fi to avoid data charges as it’s quite a big update. Voda don’t say that you have to back anything up, but we’d advise you to err on the side of caution just in case something gets wiped.
The HTC Magic was released in the UK back in May 2009 – Android 2.2/Froyo arrived June this year, over a year later.
