Wednesday Deals: Sony PS Vita, Vita accessories and Androids

After an Apple-centric last week of Wednesday Deals, we thought it only fair to make this week an altogether more Sony affair in celebration of the launch of the Sony PlayStation Vita which we’ve been enjoying profusely of late. Accordingly we’ve got a Sony PS Vita, we’ve got a Sony PS Vita internet pack, and we’ve got a Sony PS Vita memory card at the cheapest rates we could find. Keeping in theme, we also have two Sony Android phones – last season’s Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S and the upcoming flagship, the Sony Xperia S. How many times can we say Sony in a paragraph? Nine for anyone counting, so Sony lovers rejoice as our Wednesday deals unfold. Ten.

Sony PlayStation Vita + Starter kit: £197

Kicking off with the Vita itself, since it went off pre-order, the Vita’s price has shot up by an instant £50 or so and there are no pre-order packs to speak of. Over at Asda however, you can still bag yourself a bargain-priced £197 Sony PlayStation Vita (Wi-Fi model) and get the pre-order pack as well.

For anyone who doesn’t know what the pre-order pack is, it’s a starter kit with £5 discount from Sony that can be used for games.

Want one? Of course you do. So drop by where you can bag your shiny new Sony PS Vita + Pre-order pack now.

Sony PlayStation Vita memory card 16GB: £33.24

While we’re hard-pressed to forgive Sony for releasing a new proprietary memory card on to the market for their PS Vita, the pill is less bitter when we know we’re paying little over 8GB prices for a 16GB card. How can this be done? Just  head over to Cool Shop where you can see the 16GB Vita memory card for £34.49. Couple that with a 5% Quidco saving and you’re paying £32.77, less than £5 more than a card half the size.

Sony PlayStation Vita 12 months of mobile internet: £10 one off

This deal is a bit more work, but the rewards are great. You need a 3G enabled PS Vita for starters and access to an iPhone 4/S.

First, buy a T-Mobile micro SIM with £10 top-up. Insert it into an iPhone and ring the following number: 0808 121 9999

You will need to enter the mobile number you are calling from so have it to hand. Speak to a customer service representative and ask them to activate your free 12 Month Internet Pass for your micro SIM.

This is in accordance with T-Mobile’s offers, and one pass can be activated per iPhone. Leave the SIM in the phone for a few minutes and you should receive a couple of text messages. Once done, micro SIM meets Vita and you’re good to go.

Tees and Sees include a limit of 500MB per month and you may want to ring T-Mobile to see if the offer is still valid before you buy your SIM card. All well and good however and we reckon this is a pretty great way to get your PS Vita all webbed up.

Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S: £22 per month (£19.20 after cashback)

One of our favourite handsets from last year was the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S. With its stunning back-lit CMOS 8-megapixel camera sensor and the Bravia display, it made a very nice change to see a handset come onto the market which not only looked incredibly stylish, but boasted some solid multimedia-specs.

It’s therefore easy to recommend the following ‘Talker 500’ deal with Three which gives you a free handset, 1GB of data, 500 minutes and 5000 texts for £22 per month on a 24-month contract.

It’s even easier to recommend when coupled with a £67.16 cashback via This drops your monthly bill to £19.20, getting you what is still one of the most stylish handsets on the market for a great price.

Sony Xperia S: £28.50 per month + Free Sony SmartWatch

If super-slender isn’t your thing and you want the latest and greatest with a bit more va-va-voom under the hood, the Sony Xperia S is available on pre-order now over at Phones4U, with the first 250 customers getting a free Sony Smart Watch.

The handset is free from £28.50 per month on Orange with 1GB of internet, 600 minutes and 3000 texts over a 24-month contract, making for an already a great price for a brand new super-phone complete with iPhone 4S beating screen resolution and 12-megapixel camera.

Throw in the SmartWatch, designed for use with Android, specifically Sony handsets and you’ve got a complete communications kit to complement your brand new PS Vita. What’s even better, your Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited accounts will sync all your purchased music and movies across you Sony Xperia S, PS Vita and PS 3 making for a totally integrated entertainment experience.
