Wiko Wax to bring fast power and 4G to the masses

Impressive, unbeatable performance and 4G LTE support, plus a 5-megapixel selfie cam, for just €200? Sold…

Beating the big boys to the punch by being first to pack Nvidia’s new Tegra 4i processor, French phone firm Wiko are also offering the UK low-cost 4G through the shapely form of its MWC-unveiled Wiko Wax…

Wiko's low-cost 4G WAX

Wiko Wax may sound like something tree-dwelling alternate-lifestyle enthusiasts use on their hair, but it’s actually a French-designed alternative to overly-expensive 4G phone options. Packing Nvidia’s first-ever mobile processor with a built-in LTE modem, the Tegra 4i – a 1.7GHz chip that combines a quad-core CPU with a 60-core GPU – promises to deliver double the performance of its competitors.

Fancy a bit of French?

As for the rest of the Wiko Wax, we’re talking a 4.7-inch display with a 1280 x 720 high definition resolution, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage that’s expandable via microSD, an 8-megapixel rear-facing shooter, and a selfie-encouraging 5-megapixel front firer that matches Huawei’s Ascend G6. It’s all wrapped within a sleek, slim, stylish and soft-touch form-factor, and we can’t wait to have a proper play.

Although a UK price has yet to be announced, the Wiko Wax is set to cross the Channel this April, and the European price is a piffling €200 – not much to ask for a smartphone with such impressive specs. We’ll bring you a full review when we snaffle one…

Real specs appeal
