Sony launch Xperia Unleashed: offer prizes for finding their lost robots

Sony Mobile didn’t just adopt a new name as they headed into 2012, come March time they’d teamed up with acclaimed director Wes Anderson to produce an advert reflecting the company’s rebranded image. The NXT Series were the three handsets designed to herald in the new era of Sony and the ‘Xperiabots’ were the new mascots to accompany the transition. Now these little tin cans have a campaign all their own, scattered throughout the internet and offering those who find them a multitude of mobile prizes.

Sony launched the Xperia Unleashed campaign throughout the UK just yesterday and they’ve been posting and tweeting non-stop ever since. A trip over to the Xperia Unleashed Twitter feed actually brings you into contact with Leaderbot, the ‘brains’ of the operation, or rather the one providing you with the hints and clues necessary to find his minions and win prizes.

In order to win the prizes up for grabs, you’ll have to scour the internet, scan QR codes and share specific pictures to get involved. Since just yesterday, participants have been able to get their hands on a one-to-one session with top UK DJ, MistaJam, but the prizes range from gig tickets, movie premieres and the possibility of winning a Sony NXT handset. To take part, players are recommended to check out Leaderbot’s aforementioned Twitter feed, Sony Mobile’s Facebook page or the special Xperia Unleashed Facebook app.

The number of prizes up for grabs isn’t clear, but finding them might be easier than you thought…
