The ZTE Blade V is the best-specced Android phone you can buy for under £100

If you’re looking for the best value for money Android handset, then ZTE has exactly what you need. The company today announced the Blade V, an entry-level Android handset with some pretty meaty specs for an absurdly low price.

How meaty? Well, the display is only 4-inches diagonally, but ZTE was right to include an IPS 800×480 panel. That’s accompanied by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 quad-core SoC clocked at 1.2Ghz, 1GB of RAM, and a 5-megapixel camera. ZTE has skimped on storage, though: the phone comes with 4GB of internal memory, with only 2GB available to the user. At least there’s a microSD card slot that supports further storage up to 32GB.

Other niceties include Android 4.1, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11n, and a 1,800mAh battery, all packed into a 10.9mm thick, 130 gram package. The price is really the key detail, though. ZTE will be offering the Blade V on Virgin Mobile for just £89.99. And Virgin Media customers will be able to get it for £71.99 when they head into a retail Virgin Media store.

That’s insanely good value when you look at the other options on the market right now. Even Nokia’s freshly announced 515 featurephone commands a higher price tag. If we had to choose between the Nokia or the ZTE, well, we’d pick ZTE. If you’re tempted, then you’ll be able to buy the Blade V on September 4th.
