ZTE Kis dresses in Snow White in time for Christmas

The original ZTE Kis was announced back in early July and has gone on to become Virgin Media’s best-selling prepaid device. In light of this, the Chinese manufacturer have celebrated with the release of a Snow White version in the run up to the holiday season.

Now you must understand this isn’t an exercise cross-branding between ZTE and Disney, but Virgin will now offer the white ZTE Kis alongside the existing black/grey variant.

The Kis is ZTE’s true budget Android smartphone, which can put its ability to attract customers down to its undeniably low PAYG handset price. Virgin Media offer the Kis exclusively from £59.99, but how smart a smartphone does that afford you?

With regards to specifications, the ZTE Kis is another modest device, which opts for a fitting price point when weighing up the hardware capabilities in play. The 3.5-inch capacitive display sports an HVGA (320×480) resolution and on the back there’s a 3.2-megapixel auto-focus camera. Performance versus hardware can be deceptive as we found with the HTC Desire C, but the Kis makes use of an 800MHz processor paired to 256MB RAM and 512MB of ROM. Users will be provided with a 2GB microSD card to store their content on, but the Kis does allow for up to a 32GB microSD card if needed. To top is off the Kis runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread out-the-box, as expected for a device of this nature.

ZTE are clearly strengthening their budget lineup and providing Virgin Media with another exclusive device for the UK market, following in the footsteps of the Windows Phone running ZTE Tania earlier this year. The Kis is now available in white and Virgin are even throwing in 1GB of free mobile data every month for 12 months following purchase, which might give the Kis a real edge over similarly priced rivals such as the LG Optimus L3.
