Drift king Ken Block takes on footballer Neymar Jr in Footkhana

Football versus drifting in the latest in Ken Block drift YouTube video.

The beautiful game and drifting may seem like unlikely bedfellows, but that’s exactly the theme for the latest Ken Block video on YouTube, which has already been viewed nearly 1.5 million times in 48 hours. The video was made by EARN Media on behalf of engine lubricant company Castrol to promote its Titanium FST oil.

Castrol Footkhana: Neymar Jr. v Ken Block sees the Brazilian football player Neymar Jr shoot at goal while race driver and drift king Ken Block tries to save the ball by going sideways in a cloud of smoke. The tables then turn and Block gets a turn to shoot, with surprisingly effective results.

Much of the remaining video involves drifting, drifting and then a bit more drifting. Suffice to say, we reckon the Gymkhana team got through a few sets of tyres during the video’s making. Probably a fair few gallons of fuel, too, as that Ford Fiesta ST RX43 rally car has somewhere in the region of 600 bhp and 550lb/ft of torque.

We won’t spoil who wins ─ not that it matters anyway. Just enjoy the bizarre mix of motoring and football skills below in the build up to the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which begins on June 12th and ends on July 13th.

Then feast your eyes on some of the official Gymkhana videos for more lairy driving antics and some of the unofficial spin-offs.
