Texas tuning company Hennessey has announced it will be offering a 600hp version of the 2015 Ford F-150 truck called the VelociRaptor.
A big-old 5.0-litre V8 engine fitted with a supercharger, new fuel injectors, new exhaust, remapped ECU, tweaks to the intakes and 8 PSI of boost generates an eye-watering 600hp of power.
That in itself is enough to make this a very scary pick-up, but there’s more. You see, the latest F-150 weighs 300kg less than its predecessor, which means a serious step up in power to weight. While Hennessey is keeping schtum on power figures, we expect it will be a spirited performer.
As you would expect from an off-roader, you can spec utterly gigantic 33-inch BFGoodrich tyres on 17-inch Hennessey alloy wheels, custom off-road coilover suspension, upgraded front and rear bumpers, front winch, LED light bars and Brembo brakes among many other bits and bobs.
Hennessey partner Don Goldman said: “The 2015 VelociRaptor 600 will offer the best of both worlds for our clients. Many of our VelociRaptor owners use their trucks to drive to work or to take the kids to school. However, when the going gets tough, the VelociRaptor is highly capable in inclement weather and off-road conditions.”
Just 500 units of the VelociRaptor 600 Supercharged will be made, with pricing starting from US$73,500 (around £46,000).
